All staff are required to read these guidelines. Regardless, the acceptance or bearing of a rank binds you to these regulations.
Ban / Punishment Guidelines
General Rules
All staff (excluding Server Admins and above, although it is strongly recommended that everyone follow this process) must follow ban guidelines (below) (See 3-i for failure to follow guidelines).
Ban guidelines are rules set to administrators and other staff to ensure the quality of both the community and the server. These rules, regardless how restrictive they may be, are set to prevent invalid or unfair bans or punishments.
Staff may “emergency ban” a user with a nonspecific ban to stop mass RDM, a server crasher, or etc. Emergency bans must be updated within 5 minutes of the ban being placed to contain a proper reason, and time.
Bans are to not be issued unless sufficient reason or evidence is presented. (Testimony from ALL perspectives).
ANY bans or punishments made out of favor of one group / spite of another (unfair treatment) is not tolerated.
The ban reason should not be “it’s personal” or “get out”, vague or unexplained ban reasons will result in the unbanning or fixing of the reason.
Each offense must be separated by some specific character such as “/”, “-”, “|”, or “,”.
All bans must include proper reasoning and extent of the ban.
These bans must include appropriate reasons. To see appropriate reasons, (look down), continue reading.
Ban Reasons are suggested to provide clarity to both the reviewing staff and the banned player in case an appeal is filed.
Examples of bad bans / kick:
("Get out.")
("Not even worth a ban reason.")
("What's the shape of Italy? (Appeal @ Don't Bother)")
Examples of good bans / kick:
b&: (“Mass RDM / NLR / FailRP / Evasion - Appeal @ wispdarkrp.boards.net”)
b&: ("Disrespect | RDA+RDM in Sit | FailRP - Appeal @ wispdarkrp.boards.net")
kick: ("FailRP & RDA (Read Rules on Rejoin!)")
Failure to follow these guidelines will have the initial issuer of the ban reprimanded, and repetitive failure to adhere to these rules can result in further punishment.
If a ban is not updated in conformity with the appropriate guidelines, or the time limit has exceeded 24 hours (or the banned user has made an appeal) after the ban was issued, the ban is subject to change by management. This means the ban can either be overturned (unbanned) or corrected.
Failure to follow these guidelines will have the initial issuer of the ban reprimanded, and repetitive failure to adhere to these rules can result in further punishment.
Bans are to not be issued unless carefully reviewed over.
longer than 24 hours must contain a ("Appeal @ wispdarkrp.boards.net") at the end of them.
Bans longer than 7 days must be reported on the forums. Valid proof will be required within 24 hours if the user submits a ban appeal.
Management are the exception to this rule (I), and may use “Manager Witness” as their proof.
Ban Punishment Guidelines
Random Deathmatch (RDM)
1. RDM ("Random Deathmatch") the random killing of players with no valid reason is considered RDM, and is a bannable offense. RDM is one of the worst possible offenses as it causes players to lose their items, and overall interest in the server’s RP environment.
If you are suspicious of a player who might be RDMing (or has received one or two complaints on the matter), you may spectate that player.
2. There is no excuse for RDM, even if ‘two friends’ decide to kill each other for fun (no valid roleplay reason), it can and will affect the RP of other players, it is forbidden.
3. If a player RDMs one person the punishment is situational. If the player has had no previous run-ins with the staff team (IE hasn’t broken rules like this before), the punishment should still be a jail or kick, as RDM is a very serious offense. If the player is new to DarkRP or the specific rules of this server it is recommended to tell them to read the rules (“!motd”) while either in jail or after being kicked.
4. If a player RDM’s (Two-Three players) then it will be taken more seriously upon judgement as that is more serious. The punishment for such would only be anything from (one day - three days) for the RDM, and at this point it is not considered “Mass RDM”
5. If a player RDM’s (Five+ players) then that can mean one of two things (Admins choice) either a (one week ban or a permanent ban), Permanent being the more serious punishment seeing as the player may never come back without an appeal being accepted by MA or higher.
6. If and when a two week ban is expired on a Mass RDMer and they do it again the ban will be set to permanent. And for those who are permanently banned and their appeal is accepted only for them to repeat the same offense, that ban will be made (Permanent without appeal) meaning that they had thrown away their chance to rp normally and may never come back to the server.
Ban Punishment Guidelines
New Life Rule (NLR)
1. NLR ("New Life Rule") is an RP element that signals after death of a person, that person must forget everything from their 'past life', and in some scenarios, not returning to the death location of that player's previous life.
Examples of NLR:
a. (Dying while raiding/being raided and returning is considered NLR.
b. Speaking to or confronting the person who killed you is considered NLR.
c. Returning to the area in which you died is considered NLR at all points, even after the Raid is over (you must wait the 5 minute cooldown, regardless)
d. CP may avoid the five minute cooldown time and go back to the PD without their guns drawn.
2. If a player breaks NLR, it can be serious even on the first offense. You must use your personal judgement to determine how severe the situation was.
3. The first degree of NLR can differentiate depending on what happened after the player returns to his/her place of death-- If he/she kill’s the player that killed them it is considered to be two offenses seeing as it is both NLR and now RDM, the punishment for this can be anything from a (30 minute - 1 hour ban). If he/she does not RDM upon return to their place of death in the 5 minute time period then they may be jailed for the NLR and warned not to do so again, remember that telling someone who is jailed to read !motd is required to make sure that it does not happen again (Sadly, most players ignored !motd).
3. The second degree (the player breaks NLR 2 to 3 times) will result in the player being banned no matter what, the punishment for Two-Three counts of NLR by one person can be anything from (One day to One week) depending on the circumstances of the NLR (Read at the top/beginning of the NLR tab)
4. The third degree lands the player in a more serious punishment/judgement. This means that the player committed NLR Five+ times, this is punishable by ban and ban only. Ban times are anything from (Two weeks - Permanent with the chance of Appeal), but of course it is the same with Mass RDM/RDA, this ban can be made Permanent without the chance of appeal if the player’s ban is appealed and they do it again.

Random Arrest (RDA)
1. RDA is when a player playing as a CP/SWAT or any government job with an arrest baton arrests another player unlawfully or without reason. (Warrants, Pd raids, and roadblocks are valid reasons for arresting other players. But they must also have signs stating the reason why they can/will be arrested before hand.)
a. RDA is considered serious even on the first offense because it requires admin action no matter what seeing as the attacked player is put in a cell for a period of time. This is also a common way of trolling seeing as you can re-arrest the player as soon as they are released from jail.
2. The first degree (RDA of one person) is usually an accident or the arresting player did not understand the rules fully, so almost always this can be left off with a warning if the attacked player did not lose anything of large expense (Door knocker, Slams, RPG, etc…) if so then the arresting player may need to refund the arrested player due to his lack of knowledge for the rules… If the arresting player refuses to refund the player he arrested and is not complying, they should be punished accordingly. A jail or kick can be appropriate along with immediate overwatch upon return to ensure it does not happen again.
3. The second degree (RDA of two to three players) is a ban no matter what… As stated in the other tabs, it depends purely on the circumstances of the RDA… The regular punishment for such offenses is a ban with a length of (One day - Three days) as it is two to three offenses of RDA.
4. The third degree is considered Mass RDA(Five+) this is indefinitely a ban. Nothing can stop this from being a ban… The bans can be (One week - Two weeks - Or permanent(Depending on the circumstance of course, (Trolling, minge, etc…)).
If this ban is appealed by MA/Higher and is committed again, the ban will be permanent with or without chance of appeal, reason be. The player did not take this chance and use it appropriately.
Ban Punishment Guidelines
Failed Roleplay (FailRP / FRP)
1. FailRP is one of the more minor/light offenses and is not taken too seriously in means of being broken (Though you are still punished for it).
2. One common way that FailRP happens is when someone tries to kidnap a player by advertising “Kidnap | Hands are tied | Gagged | Stripped of personal belongings/weapons” and the kidnapped player proceeds to run away, pull out a gun, and shoot his kidnappers. Which is FailRP due to his hands being tied and him being stripped of all personal belongings(Kick is more common for this)… But do not however mistake this as FailRP when all the kidnap advert says is “Kidnap”, at that point the kidnapped player may do as said above without it being FailRP seeing as the kidnapper did not inquire that his hands were tied or that he was stripped of his weapons which then allows the kidnapped player to run and get a gun(Or pull one out if already armed).
3. Carjacking without advert or as a class that cannot carjack is FailRP… Players that are the class required to carjack anyone's personal vehicle must advert carjack before stealing the vehicle(Adverting after lockpicking is fine as long as the player does not drive away then advert carjack while away from its original location) If the player stealing the vehicle fails to advert before stealing the car it is considered FailRP (Jail if the player did not harm the owner of the vehicle) if the player stealing the vehicle shoots the owner before adverting carjack then that is considered RDM (Kick) And if the carjacker decides not to advert, shoot the owner, and still steal the car, that is considered both FailRP and RDM (30 minute ban - 1 Hour ban) If the owner of the vehicle removes his car while the jacker is driving it or stealing it, it is considered FailRP and will result in a (Jail).
a. Note that while the player is carjacking someone else's personal vehicle they cannot shoot the owner unless threatened by them, if the owner sees the carjacker and walks away trying not to start anything and the carjacker chases them and shoots them then that is considered RDM… If the owner of the vehicle attempts to stop the carjacker or get in his car, then the carjacker is obligated to attack the owner with any force necessary to stop the owner or get the vehicle(Or walk away if it's not that important)
b. At any point in time, the owner of the vehicle can KOS anyone trying to steal his/her car. That is basic RP and if the carjacker complains then they have a lack of knowledge for the rules (which you should correct, and have them read the rules).
4. A category that is considered FailRP: Any CP/Government may not own printers or drugs, they may not farm other people’s entities, that is considered FailRP and will result in a (Jail or Kick - Admins choice depending on severity of the case) CP/Government cannot base with any other players outside of PD, that is also a form of farming off others which is FailRP as CP/Government are supposed to arrest/apprehend criminals and work from pd and roadblocks/checkpoints only. (Kick)

Staff Ranks & Rank-Specific Rules
1. All staff (DA-SA-MA-HM--Higher--) must follow rules the same as players… Just because you are a staff member does not allow you to break the rules of the server. In fact, it restricts you from breaking them at all. Any and all ranks below MA(Management) may not use their powers off duty. Please keep in mind that all ULX commands are logged. MA(Management) and up may not use their powers to positively affect themselves while also negatively affecting others… (Nocliping into bases, slaying/kicking/banning someone raiding you, etc…) You may however tend to the needs of players out of RP off duty (Sits, Anything that requires admin attention/help). Management are allowed to use ULX when they are not AOD, but not using them while roleplaying such as raiding a base (they can’t use noclip just bust into your base).
2. DAs (Donor Admins) have the same responsibilities as any other staff member, meaning that as a DA you are essentially an administrator who has paid for their rank. As DAs purchased DA, and not VIP, they must act the part and fill in as Server Admins when needed (peak hours, when no others are AOD/Staff aren’t online). As this rank you answer to management, just as the server admins (SA) do.
3. SA(Server Admins) Have a the same responsibility as DA but with more abilities with your powers, you must go on duty to use any and all powers as SA (Noclip, !goto, !bring, !jail, !jailtp, etc…)
4. MA(Management) Have a much higher responsibility as they must look over both players and staff, as MA you must listen to HM(Head Management/SuperAdmin) and up (Owner being the highest). As MA if you see any DA/SA abusing their powers or abusing players while on duty, it is your job to take them and strike them for their abuse (A strike being a 24 hour ban |add more depending on the severity of the situation| while also adding Strike #1/#2/#3 with your strikes depending on how many they have. (see forum/striking section below for details--(click me) you must also include the reasons for the strike in the ban.
5. HM or higher(Head Management/Owner) essentially have their own ruling and regulations but are still encouraged to follow the rules.
Finally...
No one gets a free pass to break rules or break guidelines at any point in time.

The Strike List
1. Getting “striked”, or striking someone is the punishment for breaking a rule as a ranked player/Staff member. These strikes serve as a warning to administrators and other staff that they have broke too many rules and will suffer if they have accumulated enough strikes.
The official strike list can be found here (click me), and looks like this:
2/8/2016 Strike List Screencap
2. Regular RP rules still stand and must be followed/obeyed by staff no matter what, Just because you carry a rank/title does not mean you can break rules, as a staff member, if you break a rule a strike may not be instant if you don’t already have a strike depending on the rule broken since you have not broken any rules before as staff. But you might be warned and MA may or may not watch your activity/RP to make sure you don’t do it again. It is crucial that staff follow the Default/Added rules to ensure the best RP for the Players and themselves. As a staff member it is assumed you know the rules and infractions are harsher than ones done by players.
3. If you do not yet have a strike as a Staff member and have only committed one minor or “Light” offense then you may be let off with a warning and overwatch. If you commit multiple offenses you can and will be striked without question even if you do not yet have a strike. Any staff members with more than one strike may or may not be given warnings for light offenses, that is the direct choice of MA(Management) and up.
Strike Chain
This is the (official) punishment chart, try to never let it get past 0.
Strike #1 24 Hour Ban Warn +1 Strike Tally
Strike #2 24 Hour Ban Final Warning +1 Strike Tally
Strike #3 72 Hour Ban Demotion / Ban +1 Strike Tally
Strike #4 Permanent Ban Permanent Ban +1 Strike Tally
4. Do not be worried about getting permanently banned after third strike is given, that is only given to those that are demoted for much more severe abuse/rule breaking.
5. Permanent bans can be lifted but if the player is banned again the ban is set to Perm(W/O appeal)

Punishment Tables
These punishments are merely suggestions for the administrators or staff who are confused on what to proceed with in terms of punishments. Note that these are suggestions, as each situation an admin may be in is conditional and varies. Only use this table if the punishment adequately fits the severity of the actions made by the user(s).
Exclusions: Crash/DOS or Exploits.
Coming from me (Nick), if someone is exploiting or Crashing/Denying Service in ANY way, you ban them permanently and let an MA know. Please confirm it is them before you ban them, though.
